A strong Early Years foundation is essential for children’s long‑term success, and Ofsted places significant emphasis on the quality, ambition and inclusivity of the EYFS curriculum.
In this focused one‑hour session, part of our Unpacking the School Inspection Toolkit series, we will explore what Ofsted expects within the Early Years evaluation area and how leaders can evidence high‑quality provision that gives every child the best possible start.
You’ll gain clarity on how inspectors evaluate curriculum intent, teaching quality, children’s development, care practices and the effectiveness of support for children in EYFS with additional needs.
What we’ll cover:
- How leaders ensure every child receives a high‑quality, ambitious and inclusive EYFS curriculum, regardless of background or need.
- How the early years curriculum builds the knowledge, skills and understanding children need to succeed in the next stage of learning.
- How responsive, evidence‑informed teaching develops children’s communication, language and foundational skills, enabling them to achieve well from their starting points.
- How care practices and relationships promote children’s well‑being, independence and safety.
- How leaders and staff identify and reduce barriers so all children can learn, thrive and make strong progress.
- Practical ways to use the information to refine and update the Early Years section of your SEF.
- Opportunities to ask questions and deepen your understanding of the toolkit and the inspection process.
