Creating a truly inclusive school requires leaders to establish a culture where every pupil is known, supported and able to thrive.
In this focused one‑hour session, part of our Unpacking the School Inspection Toolkit series, we will explore what Ofsted expects within the Inclusion evaluation area and how leaders can evidence strong, equitable practice across their school.
You’ll gain clarity on how inspectors evaluate inclusion, the systems that matter most, and how leaders can demonstrate the impact of their decisions on disadvantaged pupils, pupils with SEND and pupils known to children’s social care..
What we’ll cover:
- A clear, leader friendly breakdown of the inclusion evaluation area
- What Ofsted is focusing on in inclusion and why it matters.
- Whether the Pupil Premium strategy is evidence based, coherently implemented and demonstrably improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
- The extent to which statutory duties are fulfilled and the graduated approach is implemented rigorously, ensuring high expectations and improved progress for pupils with SEND.
- The effectiveness of the designated teacher in coordinating statutory plans and multi agency support for pupils known (or previously known) to children’s social care.
- Practical ways to use the information to refine and update the inclusion section of your SEF.
- Opportunities to ask questions and deepen your understanding of the toolkit and the inspection process.

More information about this series
The Ofsted school inspection toolkit is detailed, wide‑ranging and often difficult for leaders to navigate, but understanding it is essential for confident self‑evaluation and inspection readiness.
This series of seven one‑hour online sessions will guide senior leaders through each evaluation area, helping you make sense of what Ofsted is looking for and how this aligns with your school’s practice.
Across the series, you’ll build a clear understanding of each evaluation area, what evidence matters, and how to use this knowledge to strengthen and update your SEF. Each session includes time for questions, giving you the opportunity to explore the toolkit in depth and clarify aspects of the inspection process.
